Australian University Games - September 26 to October 1

About the University Games
Since its inception in 1993, the Australian University Games (AUG) has grown to be Australia's largest annual multi-sport event. Held each September/October, the Games is renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for Australian university athletes. AUG is known as the flagship event on the national university sporting calendar.
The Games are recognised as a perfect opportunity to provide university athletes, many of whom are of Olympic standard, to compete against each other in a national multi-sport event. As such, the Games has built up a reputation as a not-to-be-missed event, attracting over 6,000 participants each year.
Off the sporting field, an action-packed, week-long social program is held to complement sporting activities and enhance the event experience for all participants.
Each year the Games sporting schedule is made up of more than 28 individual and team sports. Unlike previous years where athletes were required to qualify for the national event through regional Games, the event is now open to all competitors and has separate divisions.
In 2010 the Australian University Games will be held in Perth from 26 September - 1 October with 31 sports contested.
Participants will compete in: Athletics, Australian Rules Football, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cycling, Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kendo, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rowing, Rugby Union 7's, Sailing, Softball, Squash, Surfing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling, Touch, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Water Polo.
Fencing Events
Events include mens and womens open foil, epee and sabre and novice foil.
If there are enough competitors, there may be team events.
Want to join in the action?
Maya Polanski is looking for fencers that are current students (undergraduate or postgraduate) of Curtin University to join the Curtin team. Please email Maya Polanski if you are interested and would like to register.
More information on the Australian University Games can be found on the AUG website:

Sat 7 Aug - Cavaliers closed for AFF #3
CAVALIERS WILL BE CLOSED ON Saturday 7th August FOR AFF #3
We would like as many fencers (or parents) as possible, even the Bladez, to go to the tournament where you will see fencers from all over Australia.
New and Old fencers will benefit from observing the higher standard, and will get an even better 'bird's eye' view by offering to assist as scorer, timekeeper, etc.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP OUT, PLEASE GIVE YOUR NAME TO MIKE MIDDLETON AT THE CLUB SESSION.
