In an AFF Email Circular on 25th September, the AFF advised of the FIE's mandatory requirements for new foil masks with a conductive bib for all FIE senior events from 1 January 2009.
The circular went on to state that the 2008 AFF Annual General Meeting (AGM) agreed to introduce this FIE requirement for fully conductive bibs on mask foils for all national tournaments (for all age groups) in Australia from 1 January 2009.
The statement was meant to convey that the AFF AGM decision was the requirement for the conductive bib, as per Part XXII of the attached FIE Circular, and not the requirement for the new complete foil masks.
Consequently, from 1 January 2009, for all AFF national foil tournaments for all age groups, the requirement will be to have a mask with the conductive bib.
The AFF understands that some international manufacturers, as well as some local Australian suppliers, are making available kits to adapt the bibs on existing foil masks.
