Cavs Equipment Busybee
Cavsa is looking for volunteers who might like to help!
Gary and co-workers will be at Cavs to go through all the equipment, clean and repair as required.
Venue: Cavs fencing venue at Mt Lawley Sport and Fitness Centre.
Date: Saturday 31st January 2009
Time: 10am.
Room: The storeroom, or on the outside basketball courts.
Bring: no requirements for the moment

Attached is the Draft WAFA 2009 calendar.
Venues will be published as soon as these are confirmed. Please note that whilst Belmont will remain the default venue, and location for State finals, competitions may also be held at Clubs or alternative locations throughout the year. Check the web page regularly for updates. The calendar, as published on the web page, will be regarded as the correct version in case of any confusion.
Subject to the service becoming operational, entries may be required to be made on line this year from this website.

Medals at the 2009 Australian Olympic Youth Festival
Congratulations to all the athletes and team officials of the Australian Team for their performance at the 2009 Australian Olympic Youth Festival (2009 AYOF) held in Sydney's Olympic Park over the past two days.
The Australian team won 3 silver and 3 bronze medals across the four epee events.

Fitness and Fencing Camp
Fitness & Fencing Camp run by Marek Jamrozy – all levels welcome
Hi All,
I will be running a camp for all fencers who would like to improve their fitness level and refresh their basic fencing skills. Fitness & Fencing Camp will include a large variety of games and activities that will help fencers of all levels of fitness to prepare for a new fencing season.
When: Monday, 19th January – Saturday, 24th January, 2009
Time: 8.30am - 3.30pm every day (lunch will be provided)
Where: Swordfish Fencing Club
Carine Snr High School - Enter the school grounds from the north directly via the roundabout at the intersection of Osmaston Rd and Alvaston Dr. Park in the car park and walk a short distance to the gymnasium just past the pool.
Fitness sessions: different activities from session to session, eg: competitive group games, cardio and resistance circuits, interval drills, water activities
Fencing session: footwork, basic work with weapons, group activities (non electric fencing equipment will be used)
Payment: 45 AUD per day (lunch included) or
250 AUD per week (lunch included)
If you would like to join us but money is the issue, please contact me – I am sure we will be able to sort it out.
Please bring with you:Registration details:
- sunscreen,
- hat,
- shorts and swimming stuff,
- sport shoes
- non electric fencing equipment (I can help you to organise it if you don’t have one)
Please confirm your attendance by Wednesday, 14th January by by email (please talk with your personal coach before).

Because of the heat, Mike would like to change the arrival time to mid-afternoon, around 3pm, with the bbq around 5pm onwards. Airconditioning if it is very hot, and fencing on the verandah.

Casual Summer BBQ and Fencing for Cavaliers
Sunday 18th January from around lunch time onwards, all afternoon for casual fencing and socialising, until an evening bbq around 5 - 6pm.
Mike Middleton has offered the hospitality of his home to all Cavaliers members and families.

Take your steam equipment (no electrics) for fencing on the wide, wooden verandahs.
Kids take your bathers and water pistols. No pool, but you can run around and get wet by squirting your enemies!
Hat and Suncream - it will be an outdoors day.
Mike will provide sausages and some salad, and there will be the option of putting in an order from Little Caesars Pizza Place if you prefer.
You are to bring your own drinks. Offers of salad or dessert will be appreciated, I am sure.
Many thanks to Mike who has offered his home for this social event.
