Cavaliers August 2013 Update

Changes to AFC entry process
Changes associated with athlete entry to events at the AFC3 tournament in Melbourne in late August.  Registrations for fencers opened for AFC3 in the AFF Registration and Payment system (“ARPS”), and registrations have already started to be received for AFC3 using this system.
The main change to event entry is that you do not need to register through your State Association; registration is handled centrally by the AFF. Refer to Cavaliers website for further details

Epee Coach
Cavaliers committee have approved Sam Jau to work as our epee coach, for 1 hour per week during his stay between September this year and June 2014 and will working with Ben to arrange.
Reminder that Ben is looking for expressions of interest for individual lessons ($30/session) which will be sold in 10 lesson blocks for Sam. If you are serious about competing at state and national level then please take the opportunity to work with Sam while he is here

Please write to Ben at
wafaweb@yahoo.com if you need further details or wish to put forward an expression of interest.

Ben is also searching for accommodation for Sam and his wife over that period (even a month here or there would help), so any help you can offer would be gratefully accepted.

Coaches for Beginners Courses

DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A COACH?
Coaches for the Beginner Courses hold the most important and influential position in the Club.
It is during this course that our prospective members get their first feel of Fencing and make the decision to either leave the sport or join the Club to become regular and productive members.
Cavs is desperately in need of the right people to train up for this position.

Changes to AFC entry process

Copy of email from AFF
Dear Fencer / Parent / Coach,
This email is to advise of changes associated with athlete entry to events at the AFC3 tournament in Melbourne in late August.  The new entry process has been prototyped and tested with AFC2 (Late Entries) and AFC Cadets / Under-15s (Late Entries and Overseas Entries).  It was also used extensively for CFC in 2010, and is being used for AFT/AFS and Regional camp registrations.
Last Friday, registrations for fencers opened for AFC3 in the AFF Registration and Payment system (“ARPS”), and registrations have already started to be received for AFC3 using this system.
The main change to event entry is that you do not need to register through your State Association; registration is handled centrally by the AFF.
